Overview of Services

About Us:
 
The Discipline of Chemical and Renewble Energy is part of the School of Engineering (SENG) and provides access to equipment, instrumentation, analyical services and facilities to assist suitably trained staff and students. This includes, but are not limited to, the following;
 
Equipment and Instrumentation:
Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM - TIMA) dedicated to mineralogy analysis
Chromatography equipment including gas chromatography (GC), high performance ion chromatography (HPIC), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)
Particle analysis - Mastersizer, Morphologi 3SE (automated microscopy)
Imaging analysis - High-resolution micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) scanner
Spectroscopy analysis - Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR)
Thermogravimetric analysis - TGA/DSC
3D Printing - Fortus 450MC (industrial FDM printer)
Fluid dynamics analysis - Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV)
Surface area and porosity testing - Brunauer Emmett and Teller (BET) instrument
 
Services:
Elemental analysis - Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Sulfur (CHNS) or Oxygen (O)
